Alfredo Mathew III is a social entrepreneur, educator, and systems thinker
Alfredo Mathew III is working to build a more inclusive and regenerative economy—one rooted in ownership, equity, and shared prosperity.
For over 25 years, Alfredo has worked at the intersection of education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship. He began his career as a public school teacher in the South Bronx, Oakland, and Pasadena, and was named Teacher of the Year in 2002-2003 by the Office of the Superintendent of Bronx High Schools. After leaving the classroom, he led the Bay Area office of the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), connecting thousands of students to Silicon Valley companies and career pathways.
He later co-founded ESO Ventures, a pioneering entrepreneurial support organization that authored and passed California legislation to fund inclusive entrepreneurship statewide. From a $5,000 contract and a concept, over 4 years Alfredo led the strategic partnerships that incubated over 500 Black and Brown-owned businesses, deployed over $6 million in capital, and helped secure $22 million in public and philanthropic investment for community-rooted entrepreneurship across California.
Today, Alfredo is the Founder and CEO of SPCC.1, the world’s first Shared Prosperity Community Corporation—a new kind of economic infrastructure designed to help communities consolidate small businesses, deliver shared services, and access multi-million dollar contracts and growth capital. His long-term vision is to create a federated network of local economic engines in underinvested communities across the globe.
